Chariots of the Sun came into being in 2012. A unique time, where small batch, quality produce, and thoughtful brands could make a space amongst surfing giants.
Inspired by all things vintage, making wetsuits to order close to the sea, screen printed t-shirts, the occasional custom surfcraft and bringing friends together accross continents.
We wanted a wetsuit that would last for years, could be repaired, and would have a style that only a few niche makers in the world were doing. They are still hard to find. We use Japanese Neoprene, hand cut, templated to our specs, sewn and glued by the Atlantic in Cornwall, England.
Our very first ambassadors were Beau Young and Lachlan Leckie (The Salty Merchant) on the East Coast of Australia and underground UK stylists Ben Brown and surfer shaper Simon Firley in 2013. Our suits incorporate tradition and innovation and have since been worn by the likes of Matt Chojnacki, Samuel Crookshanks, Ginger Caimi, Matia Zulberti, Jordan Rodin, Thomas Lodin, John Edlridge, Kent Turkish, James Bowden, James Aiken, Diogo Appleton and many more from Spain to New York to Hawaii. Thank you to each and every order sent around this world.
Our love for surfing came from the Endless Summer, Morning of the Earth and Children of the Sun, and having personal family connections in South Africa, the UK, and Australia, ensured our approach to a wider world. Being inspired by friends, creatives and surfers like those mentioned above, keep this journey alive. Thank you.
